Warner Bros. and Legendary’s Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire roared to an $80 million opening at the domestic box office, well ahead of the $45 million to $55 million that was expected. The film scored the fifth biggest Easter opening of all time, according to Sunday estimates. Critics panned Godzilla x Kong, but audiences disagreed, giving it an A- CinemaScore and 4.5 stars on PostTrack. Part of Wanrer’s MonsterVerse Universe, the movie earned the second best opening in the franchise.
