‘Gears Of War: Retrospective – The First Ten Years Announced By Udon Entertainment

Grab your Lancer, it’s time to suit up for another mission! UDON Entertainment, XBOX, and The Coalition are thrilled to announce the release of GEARS OF WAR: RETROSPECTIVE – THE FIRST TEN YEARS, an extensive history of the GEARS OF WAR franchise, in advance of the highly-anticipated 2019 release of GEARS 5.

With its acclaimed gameplay, intense characters, and visceral action, the award-winning GEARS OF WAR franchise helped define the modern shooter genre. Written by Arthur Gies, GEARS OF WAR: RETROSPECTIVE – THE FIRST TEN YEARS is a detailed look into the history of GEARS through the words of its developers, designers, and artists. Although it took six years to develop the first GEARS OF WAR, Gies says the team involved, “remembers it as one of the best experiences of their careers. It was a chance to make something they believed in, something they knew had moved the needle of the console business in profound ways in addition to being a great, new kind of game. It changed a lot of lives – those of the people who made it, and in many cases, the people who played it.”

The continued impact of the fans on the GEARS series is profoundly felt and appreciated by the creators of the series.  Rod Fergusson, Studio Head at The Coalition says, “Every time I have the privilege of meeting GEARS fans, whether at an event signing posters or just walking through the airport, I am humbled by the stories of how much GEARS OF WAR means to them and how it’s impacted their lives. Besides being some escapist fun, I’m told how GEARS OF WAR helped people through hard times, created friendships, kept family members connected and even introduced them to their significant other.”

Fans of the series will not want to miss GEARS OF WAR: RETROSPECTIVE – THE FIRST TEN YEARS. With over 250 pages of commentary, concept art and key visuals, GEARS OF WAR: RETROSPECTIVE will also include all-new tribute artwork created specifically for the book, as well as a comic art gallery featuring some of the biggest names in the industry!
