With Greek myths all the rage in Hollywood, it was just a matter of time before the Greek gods got the animated treatment again… this time, with a talking pig. According to Pajiba, DreamWorks Animation has picked Barry Sonnenfeld to adapt and direct Paul Shipton’s novel Pig Scrolls into an animated comedy.
Paul Shipton’s popular young adult novel follows a former sailor from the crew of Odysseus’ ship named Gryllus, who has been entranced by Circe and is transformed into a pig. In his quest to become human again, he encounters many of the Greek gods and helps save the earth.
Even though like so many other directors out there, Sonnenfeld has his name attached to a plethora of projects (Men in Black 3, The Spellman Files, Swift), Pajiba is reporting that Sonnenfeld is deep into working on the adaptation of the novel. With a script by Kirk De Micco (Space Chimps, Racing Stripes), it seems that this film is deeper into development than most of his other projects, so this film might be the one he takes on as his next project.
