With all the casting rumors flying around for Zack Snyder’s new take on Superman (no pun intended), one role, other than Henry Cavill being cast as Superman, is now for certain. According to Warner Brothers and Legendary Pictures, Diane Lane has been cast as Clark Kent’s adoptive mother, Martha Kent.
Zack Snyder had this to say in regards to her casting:
“This was a very important piece of casting for me because Martha Kent is the woman whose values helped shape the man we know as Superman. We are thrilled to have Diane in the role because she can convey the wisdom and the wonder of a woman whose son has powers beyond her imagination.”
In other Superman casting news, right now there are only rumors. Kevin Costner has been mentioned as a “person of interest” to possibly play Jonathan Kent, and Viggo Mortenson has been mentioned for the role of General Zod, though nothing about either being cast is official.
The new Superman film will have Zack Snyder at the helm. He’ll will be working from a script by David S. goyer, form a story by Goyer and Christopher Nolan. The latest Superman film is set for to hit theaters December 2012. Stay tuned here for more news as it filters in…
