‘Dawn of Justice’ Weak On Screen But Strong At Box Office

Batman V Superman: Dawn of JusticeDespite bad reviews, weak story and terrible acting, Superman and Batman fans proved P.T. Barnum’s adage of never overestimating the intelligence of the consumer and turned out in droves to see Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The cinematic monstrosity rolled in box office gold bringing in $170,100,000 domestically. The film earned an estimated worldwide box office total of $424.1 million—the top Super Hero movie opening of all time and the fourth-biggest industry opening of all time.

However, with costs of the film estimated to top $1 billion it may also break the record for biggest flop if audiences decide it isn’t worth seeing again. The numbers also include the release in immersive 4D theaters, which carry a considerably higher admission cost.
