Bryan Cranston Sets Off For ‘Mars’

John Carter of MarsBryan Cranston, Emmy Award winner for his role in Breaking Bad and the dad from Malcom in the Middle, will be heading off to Mars for his latest project. The Disney/Pixar film John Carter of Mars (based on the Edgar Rice Burroughs novel series) is set to begin filming next week and is the first foray into live action for Pixar. Cranston will play a Civil War colonel, who butts heads with John Carter (Taylor Kitsch), a Civil War veteran who finds himself transported to Mars.

Along with Cranston and Kitsch, the cast includes Lynn collins, Willem Dafoe, Smantha Morton and Polly Walker.

Andrew’s Stanton (WALL-E and Finding Nemo) co-wrote the screenplay with mark Andrews and is directing the film. John Carter of Mars which will be a hybrid live action/ CGI film.

No real word on a release date yet, but it should be out in theaters in 2012.
