Double Take Brings Back the Dead

Night of Living DeadThe living dead revive. And, superheroes will rise. On September 28, 2016, Double Take, LLC (2T) will release 10 graphic novels simultaneously for the ultimate binge-reading experience. These new, fun stories are set in the universe of the 1968 film Night of the Living Dead. Bill Jemas, the former Marvel President and Publisher, is at the helm of 2T. Bill and his team have commissioned a new generation of creators to create a wonderfully diverse and exciting universe with everything from hordes of walking dead to teams of superheroes, from angry scientists to attractive aliens.

“Mostly, our creators tell new stories starring new characters – secret service agents, 51-foot women and indestructible teens,” said Bill Jemas. “If you love Night of the Living Dead, you won’t be disappointed; as you will be able to follow your favorite characters from their first appearances, through their dying breaths, to their first baby zombie steps.”

2T started these stories last September as individual episodes. The first two episodes of all 10 stories can viewed in full and for free digitally on their website at www.doubletakeuniverse.com. In the coming weeks, 2T will also set up on their website free weekly appointment viewing of episodes 1 through 4 of one of the 10 stories.

The graphic novels will be distributed by AtlasBooks, the distribution division of Bookmasters, in North America, the United Kingdom, and Europe.

“We believe that Double Take is producing some of the best comic books in the industry,” said Michael Coast, story editor at Double Take. “Our books appeal not just to hardcore comic book fans, but to readers who are new to graphic novels as well. Our partnership with Bookmasters will help us reach this wider audience so that they too can enjoy our exciting stories, interesting characters and world-class art.”

Night of the Living Dead has become part of the public domain, making it possible for 2T to publish these new stories. According to Lillian Tan, 2T’s Business Manager, “While we admire and respect the creators, cast, and crew of the original, no one affiliated with the 1968 Night of the Living Dead film is in any way involved in the creation of the new stories.”
