‘The Spectre’ In Development At Fox

Now that “The Human Target” is off the air, Fox is turning its sights on another character from the DC Comics stable. Fox is developing a potential drama series based on The Spectre. The Spectre, created by Superman co-creator Jerry Siegel and Bernard Bailey, first appeared in DC’sMore Fun Comics #51 in 1940. The character has been a cornerstone of the DC universe, though it peaked in popularity during the 1980s, written by Alan Moore.

The network has ordered a script, to be executive produced and written by John Doe scribe Brandon Camp, based on the DC hero. From Warner Bros. Television and Gerber Pictures, Bill Gerber (Gran Torino) is attached to executive produce the project, which revolves around a former cop serving time in afterlife limbo who hunts down earthly criminals on behalf of the dead – and mortals soon to be dead – if ultimate justice is not served.
