J.J. Abrams Brings Steampunk Robot To The Big Screen

Boilerplate, the world's first robotJ.J. Abrams is adapting “Boilerplate: History’s Mechanical Marvel,” to the big screen. The graphic novel-picture book hybrid by Paul Guinan and Anina Bennett, tells the story  of the world’s first robot.

Boilerplate’s story is told ala Forrest Gump, mixing the images to tell the story of Boilerplate’s adventures in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, fighting alongside Teddy Roosevelt and Lawrence of Arabia, journeying to the South Pole and became involved in the silent movie business before disappearing on the battlefields of World War I.
