With Shrek coming to theaters shortly in his fourth (and probably last) film, it’s about time another big monster got a sequel, this time a big, blue, furry one, along with his giant green eyeball of a friend. At a press briefing yesterday, Disney’s Pixar division announced a sequel is in the works for its 2001 hit, Monster’s Inc. Though no details of the film were released, it is expected in theaters November 16, 2012.
This announcement came from Disney chairman Rich Ross during a press briefing Thursday at Walt Disney Studios headquarters in Burbank, CA. Along with Monsters, Inc. 2 news, Ross confirmed that Pixar’s Brave (originally titled the Bear and the Bow) will be coming to theaters June 15, 2012. It follows the story of a princess who becomes an archer, all the while fighting the forces of nature, magic and a dark ancient curse, with voice talent by Reese Witherspoon, Billy Connolly, Emma Thompson and Julie Walters.
