Will Eisner’s “Contract With God” Moves To Big Screen

Will Eisner's A Contract With GodWill Eisner’s graphic novel “A Contract With God” is being adapted into a live-action feature by writer-producer Darren Dean. The story recounts Eisner’s memories of growing up in a New York City tenement. Divided into four parts, four separate directors, Alex Rivera (“Sleep Dealer”), Tze Chun (“Children of Invention”), Barry Jenkins (“Medicine for Melancholy”) and Sean Baker (“Prince of Broadway”). will each helm one chapter of the story.

“Getting to know Will Eisner was one of the great honors of both my personal and professional journeys,” said Bob Schreck, former DC Comics editor and producer in a press release. “We are all well aware that the work ahead has a very high bar of excellence to aspire to set by Mr. Eisner’s pioneering achievements in storytelling.”

“A Contract With God” is considered one of Eisner’s seminal works and producers have stated they will strive to remain faithful to the feel and spirit of Eisner’s original vision.
