Walter & William Clash in Season Finale of Fringe

Fringe_Walter_WilliamFringe’s finale for it’s second season will pit Walter Bishop (John Noble) against William Bell (Leonard Nimoy).  Consulting producer of the show Akiva Goldsman has confirmed this to Michael Ausiello of Entertainment Weekly.

“William and Walter will finally face off in the finale. These [characters] have so that they’re bringing to bear. And Leonard and John are two fantastic actors.” said Goldsman, who is directing the two-part episode (written by exec producers Jeff Pinkner and J.H. Wyman).

“We’re going to be looking very closely into Peter’s [Joshua Jackson] identity, Walter’s choices in the past, and Walter’s choices in the future,” reveals Goldsman. “And by the end of the season, we’re all going over to the other side.”

According to Goldsman, the last two episodes will be a singular, movie-like event. On the off chance that the season finale is the series finale, he continued by saying “Good stories typically have sufficient closure, but also have the promise of continuing — even if you’re not watching them continue. So, short of killing somebody — which we’re not doing — we’re just treating it like the end of a movement, not the end of a symphony.”

It’s the weird show down we’ve all been waiting for… and hopefully, not its last.
