Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy Cast Confirmed

Director Thomas Alfredson has landed a top-notch cast for his big screen adaptation of John Le Carré’s classic spy thriller Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. According to Variety, Gary Oldman, Ralph Fiennes, Colin Firth and Michael Fassbender have all signed on to the film.

Le Carré’s novel is the first book of the Karla trilogy and follows a hunt within the highest ranks of MI6 for possible spies during the aftermath of the Cold War.  The book was last adapted in 1979 for the BBC starring Sir Alec Guiness as Smiley.  Gary Oldman is most likely to play that role this time around.

With a screenplay coming from Peter Morgan (The Queen), production is set to begin October 10th in London. No word yet on a release date.
