Tim Burton Named Head of Cannes Jury

Tim_BurtonOrganizers of the 63rd Annual Festival de Cannes named Tim Burton to preside over the the festival’s nine member jury in May.

“After spending my early life watching triple features and 48-hour horror movie marathons, I’m finally ready for this,” said Burton “When you think of Cannes, you think of world cinema. And as films have always been like dreams to me, this is a dream come true.”

Burton is no stranger to Cannes.  He has already been a member of the Cannes jury in 1997, and was on 2006’s short film jury.  In 1995, his biography “Ed Wood” was screened there as well.

“He’s a magician,” said Festival president Gilles Jacob about Burton. “We hope his sweet madness and gothic humour will pervade the Croisette.”

The names of the other eight jury members will be announced in April. The 2010 Cannes Film Festival will run form May 12th to the 23rd.
