After teaming up once before to produce last year’s animated 9, Tim Burton, Timur Bekmambatov (Wanted) and Jim Lemley have teamed up again to produce a film adaption of Seth Graeme-Smith’s new novel, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter begins with a young Lincoln watching his mother die at the hands of vampires, which leads him to not only become a hunter of the undead, but to become the 16th President of the United States. Graeme-Smith’s novel blends historical facts with fiction as Lincoln ascends to the highest office in America. According to Graeme-Smith’s book, the Civil War was not only fought to free the slaves, but to secretly decimate a vampire infestation in the country. Graeme-Smith will also be adapting his book into the screenplay.
Graeme-Smith’s last book, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, has been picked up by Natalie Portman producing and is also attached to direct, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Lionsgate Studios has grabbed Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. No word yet on which studio will snatch up Abraham Lincoln:Vampire Hunter yet.
