‘The Help’ and Apes Beat All Newcomers

“The Help” continued to overperform in its second weekend, beating a new round of competitors in grossing $20.5 million and coming in No. 1 at the box office. “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” also remained strong bringing in an estimated $16.3 million for a second place finish. “Conan the Barbarian” and “Fright Night” both failed to meet expectations, grossing $10 million and $8.3 million, respectively, to come in fourth and fifth.
