Tennant & Mintz-Plasse Join the Cast of Fright Night

Fright_Night_CastThe remake of the cult classic film Fright Night adds David Tennant (Doctor Who) and Christopher Mintz-Plasse (Superbad & Kick-Ass) to its cast, according to The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision blog.
David Tennant will play Peter Vincent, a magician from Las Vegas whose magic act is based on horror-movie imagery. He claims to be an expert on vampires, but when Charley Brewster (to be played by Anton Yelchin) asks him for help when he believes his next door neighbor Jerry Dandridge (Colin Farrell) is a vampire, it turns out that Peter Vincent’s vampire knowledge is just like his act, all smoke and mirrors.
Mintz-Plasse has been cast as Charley’s best friend Evil Ed, who joins up with Dandridge after feeling slighted by Charley.
Craig Gillespie is directing the remake. Gillespie has worked on Showtime’s Emmy Award winning series The United States of Tara with Toni Collette.  Collete will be playing Charley’s disbelieving mom, who also falls prey to Danrdidge’s hypnotic power. Gillespie will be working from a script by Marti Noxon (TV’s Buffy the Vampire Slayer).
No word on when this Dreamworks film goes before cameras or release date as of yet.  Stay tuned…
