Spider-Man Reboot Adds 3D

Spider-ManSpider-Man will take the July 4th weekend of 2012 with his webswinging captured in 3D. Sony said Wednesday that it will release a fourth movie based on Marvel Comics’ Spider-Man character in 3D on July 3, 2012.

In keeping with the previously announced reboot of the franchise, the project is not being referred to as Spider-Man 4. As of now, it is simply the untitled Spider-Man project.

As MediaConnection previously reported, Sam Raimi, Tobey  MaGuire and Kirtsen Dunst will not be involved.  Logan Lerman, who currently stars as Percy Jackson, is being considered as the new Spider-Man.  The film uses a pre-existing script written by James Vanderbilt (screenwriter of Zodiac), the story will have Peter Parker as a teen again, grappling with his super-powers in a high school setting.
