Writer-director Jonathan Glazer as tapped Scarlett Johansson as the perfect (alien) woman for his film Under the Skin for FilmNation, according to The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision blog.
The film takes the point of view of Johansson’s character, “an alien on earth, disguised as the perfect aesthetic form of a mesmerizing woman” who uses her voracious sexuality to her advantage in snaring human prey. Over time, she becomes changed by her experiences on earth and finds her own humanity. With her weakening alien resolve, she finds herself on a collision course with her own kind.
“We’re so very excited to be working on this arrestingly original movie,” said FilmNation’s CEO Glen Basner,” How could we pass up the chance to work with a visionary director like Jonathan, especially when combined with the intriguing notion of Scarlett Johansson as a ruthless alien seductress?”
Glazer has co-written the script with Walter Campbell and is hoping for a late spring 2011 start date.
