Sam Clafin Joins Cast of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

POTC4_ LogoDisney has announced newcomer Sam Clafin has joined the cast of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. Clafin will be taking on the role of a youthful missionary named Philip, according to Coming Soon.

Clafin is a twenty three year old recent graduate of the London Academy of Music, Drama and Art, and is relatively unknown at this point. He will be seen this summer in the Starz channel’s upcoming mini-series The Pillars of the Earth with Ian McShane, who will also be joining him in the cast of Pirates 4. Currently, Clafin is filming a TV movie the Lost Future for the SyFy Channel.

Clafin joins director Rob Marshall and cast members, Johnny Depp, Penelope Cruz, Ian McShane, Max Irons, Stephen Graham and the recently added French actress Astrid Bergès-Frisbey on Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides this June on location in Hawaii, Great Britain and Los Angelesand is scheduled for release on May 20, 2011.
