“Rio” has become the top grossing 2011 release, ending Easter weekend with a new worldwide cume of $286 million. That easily bests Paramount’s Rango, which has earned just under $240 million globally. Rio topped the box office chart for the weekend in a big win for Fox. The 3D cartoon grossed an estimated $26.8 million from 3,842 theaters in its second weekend for a cume of $81.3 million.
