Rick Riordan Returns to Camp Half-Blood

The Lost HeroThis fall, multi-million selling author Rick Riordan takes some beloved familiar faces back to camp. The brand new series The Heroes of Olympus returns to the world of Camp Half-Blood with a new cast of characters, as well as some familiar faces from the blockbuster Percy Jackson & the Olympians series. Disney Book Group’s Disney-Hyperion imprint launches The Lost Hero ($18.99; ages 10 and up), the first book in the series, with a one day laydown on October 12, 2010. The never-before-seen The Lost Hero cover by illustrator John Rocco and the first two chapters are available to view starting today on www.camphalfblood.com.

In The Lost Hero, a new group of heroes will inherit a quest. But to survive the journey, they’ll need the help of some familiar demigods. After saving Olympus from the evil Titan lord, Kronos, Percy and friends have rebuilt their much-loved Camp Half-Blood, where the next generation of demigods must now prepare for a chilling prophecy of their own.

The book will be supported by a national author tour as well as a major marketing and promotional campaign.

“I am thrilled to revisit the world of Camp Half-Blood and introduce new characters and welcome back some that you’ve already met,” said Rick Riordan. “And I can share this, Percy does have a part to play in this new series.”

The Percy Jackson & the Olympians series debuted in the summer of 2005 with The Lightning Thief and steadily built momentum book by book through the final installment in May 2009, The Last Olympian. To date, the series has sold 15 million copies in the US and has been sold into more than 30 different language markets.
