Boat Rocker Media announced Orphan Black: The Game, the first interactive digital adventure based on the critically-acclaimed television show now entering its fifth and final season. Available exclusively on the App Store the game takes players into the feverish cloning conspiracy world of Orphan Black, challenging them to escape from perilous traps and treacherous scenarios.
Created in-house by Boat Rocker Media with the aid of game-development veterans, Orphan Black: The Game is a turn-based puzzle adventure featuring Sarah Manning, her clone sisters, and their numerous and dangerous enemies. Descending into the murky headspace of Sarah and her Project Leda sisters, players will navigate through more than 80 levels across 10 worlds, all the while pursued by familiar malevolent forces. The game’s eerily beautiful third-person isometric view recalls Orphan Black‘s atmospheric presentation while offering a unique perspective on the mysteries within.
“We’ve always wanted to make an Orphan Black game, and now is the perfect time,” says James Woods, Boat Rocker Digital’s Chief Technology Officer. “We wanted to create something faithful to the show, but also expand on the universe, so that fans get an enhanced appreciation of the themes and lore. These nightmare, fever-dream worlds will give a different kind of spirit to some of our favourite stories and characters.”
Orphan Black: The Game was developed using the Unity Game Engine and with the support of the show’s studio, creative and production teams and actors. Built by Boat Rocker Digital, Orphan Black: The Game was made possible with the support of the Ontario Media Development Corporation and it was produced with the participation of the Bell Fund and in association with Bell Media.
Orphan Black: The Game is available for $4.99 USD from the App Store on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch or by visiting AppStore.com
ORPHAN BLACK premiered on Space and BBC AMERICA in April 2013. Sarah Manning is an outsider, orphan and a street-wise chameleon with a murky past and a tenuous future. When she witnesses the suicide of a stranger who looks just like her, she assumes “Beth’s” identity, planning to solve all her problems with a quick score. Instead, she stumbles into a kaleidoscopic mystery. The truth is they are clones. There are more out there, genetic identicals, planted in unsuspecting birth parents and nurtured in wildly different circumstances. Orphan Black is executive produced by Ivan Schneeberg (Killjoys, X Company), David Fortier (Killjoys, X Company), Kerry Appleyard (X Company), Graeme Manson (Cube, Flashpoint) and John Fawcett (Spartacus, Ginger Snaps). The series, starring Tatiana Maslany, is co-created by Graeme Manson and John Fawcett, with Manson also serving as writer and Fawcett as director. Maslany’s breakout performance, playing seven clones (and counting), earned multiple Awards including an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. Orphan Black is produced by Temple Street, a Division of Boat Rocker Studios, in association with Space and BBC AMERICA. BBC Worldwide distributes the series internationally.
The fifth season of Orphan Black will air June 2017 on BBC AMERICA and Space.
