Actors Gary Oldman, Christian Slater and Dane Cook have signed on to the new indie crime thriller Girls, Guns and Gambling from writer-director Michael Winnick (2007’s Shadow Puppets) .
Along with a slightly off-beat cast and a great title, the film has a story that involves “Elvis impersonators, Indians, modern cowboys, a 6-foot-tall blond assassin, a frat boy, a corrupt sheriff and a prostitute into a chase for a priceless American Indian artifact stolen during a poker game at an Indian casino”, according to The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision blog.
Slater will play just an average guy who gets incredibly drunk and stumbles into an Elvis impersonator contest, where Oldman is the top Elvis contender. Cook will play the corrupt sheriff. Believe it or not, Heat Vision states that the film is not a comedy. It sure sounds like it will be pretty dark and at the very least mildly funny.
Girls, Guns & Gambling is being produced by Freefall films, is set to start shooting July 6.
