Nolan_ Superman _LogoProducers of the upcoming reboot of the Superman franchise,  Chris Nolan and Emma Thomas, have begun talks with directors to find the right fit to helm the upcoming project, according to Deadline.

As reported in February, Nolan has been put in the position of mentoring the next reboot of the Superman films after coming up with a viable idea to restart the franchise with David Goyer penning the screenplay.  Nolan has started to meet with potential candidates for the directors chair and will give the studio his choice for he job within the next few weeks.  The shortlist for the job of director include Tony Scott (Unstoppable), Jonathan Liebesman (Battle: Los Angeles), Duncan Jones (Moon and the upcoming Source Code), Matt Reeves (Let Me In) and Zack Snyder (300, Watchmen & Sucker Punch).

Some of the directors on the list do have upcoming film commitments (Liebesman will be directing the Clash of the Titans Sequel).  Warner Brothers and Legendary Pictures need to get the next Superman film made by 2012, due to the fact that certain rights to the character will revert back to the heirs of Jerry Siegel in 2013.  With Warner Brothers saying there will be major announcements involving major DC character in about four weeks, one can only guess the coveted director’s job on Superman will be front and center.  Stay tuned as details emerge…
