Jemaine Clement to Join Men In Black III

MIB_3_CastMen in Black 3 might have just gotten a bit funnier with the news that Flight of the Conchords star,  Jemaine Clement, is in final negotiations to play one of the villains in the film.

According to the Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision blog, Clement will play a character named Boris who is described as “charmy and creepy at the same time”. The studio is keeping the villain’s, who may or may not be alien, abilities and intent tightly under wraps, so this is as much information on the character as we are likely to get for quite some time. The character was known as Yaz in an earlier version of the script, so the name may change again before the film goes before cameras.

Men in Black 3 follows Agent K (Will Smith) as he travels back in time to 1969, who meets up with a young Agent J (Josh Brolin) as they run into the big bad Boris played by Clement. Tommy Lee Jones’ as Agent K will bookend the film, which probably means his role in the film will be limited.

Men in Black 3 is scheduled to begin filming in August. Barry Sonnenfeld is back in the director’s chair for the third installment and will be working from a script by Etan Cohen (Tropic Thunder).  It will be shot in 3D and has a release date of May 25, 2012.
