Jack Ryan Film Gets New Scribe

Jack_RyanParamount has taken another step in rebooting the franchise based on Tom Clancy’s officer-turned-action hero, Jack Ryan, with the hiring of screenwriter Anthony Peckham (Sherlock Holmes, the Book of Eli) to rework the script written by Adam Cozad, according to the Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision blog.

This new film will star Chris Pine as Ryan. It is not be based on a Tom Clancy novel will focus on Ryan’s early career. It is set in Russia and Ryan will be up against terrorists. Jack Bender, best known for his work on Lost, The Sopranos and Alias, is attached to direct.

Paramount is hoping to begin production on this yet untitled Jack Ryan film by the end of this year or early next year.  No word yet on a release date.
