Funimation Entertainment Acquires International Rights To “Monster Hunter Stories Ride On” From Fuji TV

Monster HunterFunimation Entertainment announced the acquisition of the new anime show “Monster Hunter Stories Ride On” – based on the game “Monster Hunter Stories” from Capcom, which is being released in October in Japan, and the popular action RPG game series “Monster Hunter.” Funimation has secured international rights to home entertainment, video on demand and broadcast distribution of the title as part of its agreement with Fuji TV. “Monster Hunter Stories Ride On” is set to debut this October on the FunimationNow streaming service and will be available to subscribers in the U.S., Canada, U.K., and Ireland.

“We’re thrilled to be distributing this eagerly anticipated series based on Capcom’s new ‘Monster Hunter Stories’ game,'” said Gen Fukunaga, CEO and founder of Funimation. “With both the game and anime series debuting in October in Japan, we expect ‘Monster Hunter Stories Ride On’ to be an instant hit on day one with fans of all ages – especially those who have grown-up on the franchise.”

The “Monster Hunter Stories Ride On” series will be directed by Mitsuro Hongo, who is best known for directorial roles on “Outlaw Star” and “Immortal Gran Prix” and as series director of “World Trigger.” The series is being produced by David Production, the studio behind the long-running “Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure” as well as “Planetarian,” which premiered on FunimationNow on July 7.  Capcom’s “Monster Hunter Stories” game will be released on October 8 in Japan.
