Alice Eve (She’s Out of My League) and Luke Evans (Clash of the Titans) are in negotiations to join John Cusack in The Raven, according to The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision blog.
The Raven, a 19th century gothic thriller, takes place during the last week of Edgar Allen Poe’s life. Poe’s fiance (to be played by Alice Eve) has been kidnapped by a serial killer, and a detective (to be played by Evans) joins forces with Poe (John Cusack) to find her while the killer goes on a murderous spree through the streets of Baltimore.
Evans replaces The Hurt Locker’s Jeremy Renner, who dropped out of the project to work on Mission: Impossible IV. Evans will be seen as Zeus in the upcoming The Immortals as well as Aramis in Paul WS Anderson’s 3D version of The Three Musketeers.
James McTeigue (V for Vendetta) is directing the film from a script by Hannah Shakespeare (TV’s Bionic Woman remake and the Ghost Whisperer) and actor Ben Livingston. Shooting begins November 9th with Budapest and Serbia standing in for 1849 Baltimore. No word yet on a release date.
