Russian action star-producer Alexander Nevsky is in talks with action specialist Andrzej Bartkowiak to direct “Legends of Hercules.” Production is set to begin later this year. Nevsky’s Hollywood Storm will produce the feature on a $20 million budget.
The film is focused on the classic myth of the “12 Labors of Hercules.” Story was developed by Nevsky and Bartkowiak. George Saunders (“The Hard Corps”) wrote the script with Bartkowiak’s expecting to do a polish. Project has been in development since 2008 and has no relationship to Brett Ratner’s Hercules feature film which was recently announced.
Bartkowiak’s directing credits include “Romeo Must Die,” “Exit Wounds,” “DOOM” and “Street Fighter.” Prior to directing his cinematographic credits include “Lethal Weapon 4,” “U.S. Marshals,” “Falling Down” and “Speed.”
Nevsky is a Mr. Universe champion bodybuilder, author and movie star in his native Russia. He starred in and produced Russian theatrical hits “Moscow Heat” and “Treasure Raiders.” His thriller “Magic Man” (co-starring Billy Zane) was released in 2011.
