According to The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision blog, Warner Brothers and DC Comics are developing a Batman stage show that will tour the country. Tentatively called Batman Live, the show will be brought to arenas across the country by Nick Grace Management and Walter Lane Productions, the same group behind the Walking With Dinosaurs touring show.
Batman Live will not (repeat NOT) be a Broadway bound musical, but an elaborate arena production aimed at kids and families. Longtime animation veteran Alan Burnett is on board to write the stage show. His credits include Batman: Mask of the Phantasm, Green Lantern: First Flight as well as several episodes of both the Batman and Superman animated series in the 90’s. The story is tightly under wraps at this moment, but will include many of Batman’s greatest foes.
At this moment, there is no release date for the tour. Heat Vision believes there are two possible scenarios: one has the tour beginning in 2011 and the other to coincide with the next Batman film, which is slated to hit theaters in the summer of 2012. Stay tuned for more info….
