Aspyr Announces Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 1.1 Update Now Live on the App Store

Star Wars - The Old RepublicAspyr Media today announced that Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 1.1 is live on the App Store as a free update for all current users.

Originally developed and released exclusively for iPad by leading Mac games publisher Aspyr earlier this year to commemorate the pioneering game’s 10th anniversary, the latest update brings with it a host of new enhancements including iPhone and iPod touch support, and enhanced visuals.

“The response from players around the world since the iPad release has been nothing short of remarkable,” said Elizabeth Howard, Aspyr’s Vice President of Publishing. “To be able to bring this timeless classic to even more players is our way of showing continued thanks for all of the support we’ve been shown from KOTOR’s unrelenting fans.”

The full list of enhancements is as follows:

  • Universal support — Now you can play this timeless RPG on your iPhone (4s or newer) or iPod touch (5th generation).
  • Improved graphics — Shadows are now enabled for all Retina iPad models and the iPhone 5s.
  • Enhanced lighting — Bloom effects are now enabled for iPhone 5s and iPad Air models.
  • Widescreen support — Play the game on iPhone and iPod touch in true widescreen for a more cinematic experience.
  • Updated UI — The game’s interface and text have been optimized for iPhone and iPod touch screens.
  • Controller support — Experimental implementation for “Made for iPhone” controllers (iOS 7 only).

In Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, players are immersed in an epic saga that takes place 4,000 years before the Galactic Empire—a time when Jedi and Sith numbered in the thousands. The game features deep character customization, and branching storylines that lets players choose their side of the Force, and change the outcome of the narrative in real time.
