Stan Lee Becomes An Animated Character in the “Stan Lee Superhero Pack”

Stan Lee ComicsSwedish startup, Plotagon, launched its Stan Lee Superhero Pack this weekend at Stan Lee’s Comikaze Expo in Los Angeles. Plotagon is a free, beta application that anyone can use to make instant, 3D animated movies. The Superhero Pack (USD $9.99) is an add-on that includes four newly created superhero characters and Lee as a fifth animated character, who can be seen in a short movie demo on YouTube. All were developed in collaboration with Stan Lee’s POW! Entertainment.

Lee is a legend in the comic book industry for co-creating characters such as Spider-Man, The Incredible Hulk, X-Men and Iron Man. “I have had great fun creating all my characters and have really enjoyed seeing my fans create their own stories,” said Lee. “Now, through this collaboration with Plotagon, fans can create their own short superhero movies.”

Gill Champion, president of POW! Entertainment said, “The new Superhero Pack, featuring Stan Lee, is another example of a creative way that POW! Entertainment is developing projects that allow fans around the world to be a part of the Stan Lee brand experience.”

“We are thrilled to have the legendary Stan Lee as a character, speaking in his own voice,” added Christopher Kingdon, founder and CEO of Plotagon.

Available for Mac and PC, Plotagon launched in August. It is free to download and includes the basic City Pack with five actors and six environments. To create an animated movie, users simply choose characters and an environment, type a script, add a few stage directions and press “play.” Movies can be published to Youtube and Plotagon.com/movies.

With the debut of the Superhero Pack, four City Pack characters have been given masked alter-egos with a twist: users can decide whether the characters are heroes or villains simply by writing their stories. All Plotagon characters have computer-generated voices that speak any lines written for them, but Lee’s character speaks specific phrases in his actual voice.

Content packs can be purchased from within the Plotagon application. In September, Plotagon debuted its first content pack, Alice in Wonderland, based on the classic Lewis Carroll tale. Plotagon’s third content pack, Pride and Prejudice, will be available late November to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Jane Austin’s acclaimed novel. Characters and environments from any content pack can be used together.
