Aliens are invading. But instead of coming to America, they’ll be taking over Russia in The Darkest Hour.
According to Deadline Hollywood, New Regency and Summit Entertainment are partnering on this film, a 28 Days Later type thriller about a group of kids who struggle to survive an lien attack in Russia. Timur Bekmambetov (9) is producing along with Tom Jacobson. Chris Gorak will direct.
Gorak’s directorial debut, Right At Your Door, was about the aftermath left by a terrorist attack that released a deadly toxic cloud in Los Angeles. Gorak is also the writer of NOLA, a comic book that takes place in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina about a woman who feels she’s been unable to find justice through regular channels and takes it upon herself to find justice not only for herself, but for all who have been wronged. A graphic novel of the comic series will be released on September 7 this year by publishers Simon and Schuster. He seems to be a perfect fit for this apocalyptic thriller.
The Darkest Hour will shoot this summer in Russia at Bekmambetov’s personal film facilities.
