Wolverine 2 to Start Filming in January

WolverineReports are coming in that Wolverine 2 will begin filming next January, according The Hollywood Reporter’s Showbiz 411 blog.  Screenwriter Christopher McQuarrie (The Usual Suspects) has just handed in the new script, which is based on the Frank Miller/Chris Claremont 80’s mini-series, set in Japan.

A source involved with the film has said this:

“Wolverine’s adventures in martial arts will be a love story featuring a Japanese actress, I am told. ‘It’s a beautiful story,” says the source, “and will be very different than the first film.'”

Roger Friedman, of THR’s Showbiz 411 blog, has reported that the script is “a little different than we originally thought”. Given that much of the mini series focused on the love story between Wolverine and Mariko Yashida, it will have to be seen just how much of that original story line will translate to the screen.

So far, there is no word on cast or director on the project.
