Venkman Will Haunt Ghostbusters 3

Ghostbusters_logosBill Murray has confirmed he is going to be in Ghostbusters 3.. but as a ghost.  In an interview he gave the UK news outlet The Daily Mail, he stated that what Sigourney Weaver hinted that he is coming back as a ghost  in December is true.

“I said to them, ‘I’ll do it if you kill me off in the first reel,'” he said. “So now they are going to have me as a ghost in the film.”

So its now official, Peter Venkman is a ghost. For us old school Ghostbusters fans, its a hard pill to swallow… but it COULD make for a load of fun, especially if he goes around haunting the team and making a general nuisance of himself to both the old guard and the new. Murray has made it clear his dislike of the second film in the franchise, but it still had some appeal for true fans. In the same interview with the Daily mail , he had this to say about Ghostbusters 2:

“The second one was disappointing, because the special-effects guys took over. I had something like two scenes – and they’re the only funny ones in the movie”.

Granted, we’ve all known for a while that the old guard would be “passing the torch” to a new Ghostbusters team, one can only hope that their stay in the film isn’t just extended cameos for Venkman (Murray), Stantz (Aykroyd), Spengler (Ramis) & Zeddmore (Hudson), the Ghostbusters we all know and love.
